Lost and Found

"Dear John," the letter began
I felt a twinge of foreboding
"I will try to explain, as best I can..."
my poor nerves it was goading.

"your favourite cat has run away..."
This really grabbed my attention
"so I thought to tell you without delay."
which fed my growing apprehension.

"and although we have searched all around."
I heard a scratching at my door,
"She's sadly nowhere to be found."
Kitty and I were united once more.
