A reflection on betrayal, lies, and the pain of loving the deceitful.
The tongue of a serpent exits one's mouth, bearing foul words one never wanted to hear from someone so dear. Yet that tongue slithers out, and one can only hope there is a reason for it. With the skin of a snake—not shedding, but slithering—how could one be so uncouth?

“Oh, I love you so,” but this I may not forgive. With the skin of a snake and a tongue of a serpent, how am I to trust the words that slip over your tongue so easily? They fool only fools who could believe such perfidious words.
