A short poem.
Why does fear control,
Like pleasure simmering under skin,
Like anger brash and bold,
Held unyielding, overwhelming?
Why do I fear
My body's natural reaction:
Thrumming blood and pounding hearts?
I fear the beasts we once were,
Now caged, howling, clawing.
This fear belongs to the beast.
This fear belongs to me.
