If God takes care of the birds, why wouldn't he take care of us? Matt. 6:26

Look To The Birds As They Again Gently Fly

A Villanelle written by Serena Collins

Look to the birds as they again gently fly

To their God-made abode in their wide-armed oak;

Watch as they flutter so, in the sun-lit sky.

The good LORD protects them as each day passes by,

Thro' rain and storm, and panther and fox.

Look to the birds as they again gently fly.

He cloaks them with their feathers, and keeps their small nests dry

And supplies them their fill, and quenches them their thirst.

Watch as they flutter so, in the sun-lit sky.

Us now, we people, too often do we sigh,

Frighten'd that the world does not go right.

Look to the birds as they again gently fly.

When on us befalls folly, comes stress; we tearfully cry.

Or we think not enough sustenance, or clothing upon our backs;

Watch as they flutter so, in the sun-lit sky.

So take the bird's example, how the LORD provides without try;

Day by day he watches, and they have not one lone want.

Look to the birds as they again gently fly.

Watch as they flutter so, in the sun-lit sky.
