Need for escape by numbing one's self.

20 bottles deep

Like 20,000 leagues under the sea

And who wouldn't

Given the task at hand

Bubbles like miniverses

Sparkling with the glimpse into a different life

Up towards the surface

To find a home and burst

In the burning light of day

Floating past my vision

Watching a world upside down

No oxygen here

Body burns for the things it needs

But the darkness is comforting

And who wouldn't

When you have to swim

Alone on the surface

A cold embrace, the enveloping sea

Pressure like a blanket

Swaddled in the most basic of instincts

Partner with the creatures

Of the dark cold deep
