Reindeer Rescue “They’ll be back,” Roscoe, the reindeer keeper said. “What if they aren’t?” piped up Willy. “Somebody better tell Santa,” Bauble and Tinsel suggested. “No need to bother the Boss, they’ll be back,” Roscoe repeated with less certainty. Bauble and Tinsel looked at each other and nodded. When the meeting broke up, the two female elves went to pull out the spare sled. “Who will pull it, all Santa’s reindeer are missing,” Bauble asked Tinsel. “Grandma and Grandpa of course,” Tinsel replied. “They’re pretty old, are you sure they can do it?” “This is their grandchildren we’re talking about here! They probably know where the kids went too.” “Okay, let’s harness them up and go after them,” Bauble said doubtfully. Once the two elves explained what was going on to the grandparents, they were more than ready to go. Luckily there was magic dust in the old sled’s secret compartment, and they were soon airborne. Grandpa says to go to Lapland; the kids are probably vacationing in the Olde Country.” “Grandma agrees,” replied Bauble. “Let’s go!” they shouted as the sled sped up. Once in Lapland, the rickety old sled startled the reindeer herds on landing. “Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen,” the two elves called. When eight heads looked up, Grandma and Grandpa raced toward them. “What are you doing here?” Santa’s reindeer cried. “You kids get back home now!” Grandma said. “Or no Christmas treats for any of you,” Grampa finished. In the twinkling of an eye, they were harnessed and, on their way, back to the North Pole with Bauble and Tinsel. As for Grandma and Grandpa, they decided they needed a vacation after all that work and worry. So, they stayed in Lapland for Christmas and New Year’s. |
