Toile Forescue had to stop an outrage outside her own gate. 300 words. |
That's Not Entertainment! Mrs. Toile Fortescue lowered her binoculars with a disgusted look on her face. “How does such sight appear in a gated community? It must be stopped!” She rang a bell vigorously to summon her butler. “Have you seen that atrocious sight outside my front gate? I refuse to put up with it! Take the footman and the stableman and go down there!” Nodding, the butler left. Secretly loving a good fracas, Toile picked up her field glasses to watch the action. As the three men got to the gate, she could see them shouting at a little girl holding a stringed instrument. A monkey held out a tin cup toward the men. The butler knocked it away. After the simian had quickly picked up what had fallen from the cup, he began to climb the gate. He launched himself from the top right onto the butler’s head. The footman grabbed the little girl’s arm causing her to drop her violin. It shattered. Toile could hear screams from both child and monkey even inside! Hastily, donning her fur coat, she stepped outside and almost ran down the drive. “What on earth are you doing to them!” she said loudly when she got to the gate. “You said get rid of them!” “I meant give her money; not manhandle her and her pet!” “Child, what is your name?” “Sybil and my monkey’s name is Ninja. Let go of us! We’re helping our family!” “I see, but as a PETA member, I don’t like what you are making that monkey do! It’s not entertainment! Go home, both of you!” Toile pulled a roll of money from her pocket and passed it to the monkey. After he put it in his cup, he climbed down to Sybil. “Thank you, lady! Bye-bye!” |
