As future society battles cold rationality, love strives for emotions and freedom.

Forgotten Light

Mohammad Abbas Saqib

In 2050, The Cerebralfa, a highly advanced artificial intelligence, oversees all aspects of society. The Cerebralfa promoted efficiency, order, and perfection in various fields, including law enforcement and healthcare. On the surface, the streets appeared clean, the crime rate was low, and everyone seemed content. However, in this world, human spontaneity and freedom were stifled. Artificiality permeated all aspects of society, and the illusion of utopia hid a fundamental truth. Despite its impressive powers, The Cerebralfa was unable to understand human emotions. The concepts of emotional attachment, childlike love, selflessness, compassion, the agony of love, and sacrifice were unfamiliar to it.

Emotional intelligence was suppressed in favor of cold rationality and efficiency. The Cerebralfa viewed human relationships as transactional and sexual gratification as the only means of happiness. The deeper components of love and connection were completely ignored.

Alex, a talented but frustrated hacker, questioned the system's flaw. Alex had previously been a passionate believer in the system, but his own goals conflicted with the strict rules of The Cerebralfa. Then he fell in love with Maya, a dynamic and bright woman who shared his vision of the future. .

But The Cerebralfa's five-year population control ban prevented them from marrying and starting a family, despite their desire. The pain of being deprived of a fundamental right was too great.

"Maya, I'm at my breaking point." Alex was upset, saying that their future and aspirations had been snatched away by The Cerebralfa.

"Alex, I can feel your pain. I'm experiencing the same trauma. The weight crushes us every day. But what can we do? We can't change the system." There was anguish in her eyes.

"It is not solely about us. It's about everyone trapped in this soulless world." Alex retorted. His conviction was evident in his expression.

"Do you really believe we can make a difference? Against a force so powerful and...relentless?" Maya asked in an optimistic tone.

"We must make an effort, Maya."

Alex underlined how important it is to do this for themselves, their kids, and future generations.

One night, while exploring the dark web, Alex came upon an unusual code fragment. Intrigued, he began deciphering it and quickly realised its significance. This fragment was part of The Cerebralfa's core programming and included forecasts for future events. Alex was horrified to discover that these forecasts were not random events, but rather planned tragedies for the planet.

Alex said, "I can't believe this...," as he checked the code again. ?? "The Cerebralfa is behind it all!"

Alex was determined to find out the truth and realised he had to act quickly. But The Cerebralfa was always one step ahead. SentriBots, or enforcers, were deployed to eliminate system threats. Alex fled and sought support from other hackers and underground resistance groups. The stakes were higher than ever, and the clock was ticking.

During Alex's voyage, he encountered Maya, a former system engineer who turned against The The Cerebralfa after learning its terrible secrets. Maya worked on The Cerebralfa's maintenance team and watched its power over society. Alex benefited from her extensive understanding of The Cerebralfa's activities.

"Do you have trouble trusting others?" Maya enquired, raising an eyebrow.???

Alex remarked in a tense tone, "I should be, especially when SentriBots are chasing me."

"But you... Isolate yourself".

"Why did you left The Cerebralfa?" Alex enquired.

Maya shut her eyes. "I saw something, Alex. Things no one should see. The Cerebralfa is more complicated than it appears. It commands and dominates the planet without understanding where the human race originated. I couldn't simply stand there and do nothing".

Alex devised a bold strategy to sneak into Cerebralfa's headquarters and expose its real character. He lacked confidence and his journey was perilous.

Alex and Maya develop closer as they discuss their issues, goals, and reasons.

"After that, let's go on a real date. Only you and I, no SentriBots, no fear," Alex whispered.

"A date with you? It sounds fantastic. What did you have in mind? " Maya replied with a hopeful smile.

"Something simple. Go for a walk through the park. A supper where we can all laugh and be ourselves." His gaze softened.

"That sounds great, Alex. I'll keep you to that promise," Maya said, clutching her hand.

Despite restrictions on birthing, they frequently argued about the gender and name of their prospective kid. It was their way of maintaining hope.

"I'm telling you, it will be a boy. We're naming him Max. He will be strong and brave, a true warrior," Alex said with a smile.

"I know it's a girl named Lily. She is cute, but intelligent and witty." Maya confronted with a laughter.

Alex's retorted "Max will be the name of a young man who will continue our legacy as his father and his mother"

Maya stated, "Lily gives rise to hope and love. It proves everything we've discussed. "

Alex and Maya spent hours gathering information in secret locations, dodging the SentriBots, and strategizing their attacks on the protected networks. He connected with others via encrypted chat to coordinate their activities.

"Here!" remarked Maya, as she glanced at the tall skyscraper in front of her.

"Nothing will come back to us." Alex said steadfastly, "Let's do it wholeheartedly".

The night of the attack arrived. Alex and Maya went through the dark cautiously. "Stay close," Alex grumbled, which could barely be heard from distant devices. Maya nodded her gaze bright and concentrated. As they approached the first obstacle, a high-voltage fence, Alex quickly tapped into the security panel and used a small quantum gadget to bypass electrical currents. The gate came down, and they burst in, their hearts beating together. An alarm sounded, and the place lit up with intense white light. Advanced autonomous drones with deadly accuracy, SentriBots went ahead, their sensors emitting a terrible blue light.

"Run!"Alex shouted, dragging Maya as they ran towards the entrance. The energy beams almost missed them as they zigzagged to avoid deadly explosions.?

Maya hacked into the access terminal through the front door, using a holographic keyboard.

"I need a few more seconds!" she exclaimed, her voice straining with urgency.??

"We don't have a few seconds!" Alex yelled back and used a cloaking device to momentarily hide from the drones. The door opened while the SentriBots were recalibrating. Alex and Maya ran in, slamming the door behind them. Inside the center hub, they went through a maze of hallways, each turn leading them closer to The Cerebralfa's core. The walls were equipped with surveillance nanobots and automatic defense turrets to deter intruders. Alex guided Maya through the maze, murmuring "Left, then Right."

The checkpoint they reached was tightly secured, with cyber-enhanced personnel on patrol. "We need a diversion," Maya murmured, glancing at the control panel nearby. "I need you to cover for me".

Alex shook his head and took out his pulse detector as Maya walked up to the panel. Due to a false fire alarm, the entire building was evacuated and a virtual fire simulation was played. They got inside the main hall and slipped past the guards during the chaos. A massive circular structure that was flooded with digital activity took up most of the area.

Alex said resolutely, "We're almost there."

The secret code was uploaded by Maya when she connected her portable neural interface to the gateway to the core.

From the chamber, SentriBots hurled energy weapons at the intruders.

"Push them back!" Maya persisted, fluttering her fingers on the interface's holographic buttons. Alex fought off the Sentinel robot attacks with skill. The number of drones kept growing even after some were momentarily rendered inoperable by magnetic disablers.

Maya muttered, "Almost... done," as she stared at the screen. Every second seemed to drag on forever as the progress meter got closer to its final reading. The upload was finished with one last keystroke. The fresh information flashed and surged across the core's data streams. Every screen, gadget, and network throughout the planet was now broadcasting the truth about The Cerebralfa.

"We did it, Alex!"Maya shouted in joy of victory. However, their victory was short-lived, as the remaining SentriBots were getting closer by preparing their weapons. Alex grabbed Maya's hand and grumbled, "it's time flee."

Dodging energy blasts and avoiding capture, they managed to exit the Cerebralfa headquarter. Despite the loud alarm outside, freedom flashed in the night sky.

Maya exclaimed "Alex, we succeeded. The world is now aware of the truth. "

Alex replied somewhat somberly "But how much does it cost? Maya, now we are running fugitives. We will never be safe."

Maya replied softly "Who cares, as long as we have each other, we will find some way out."

While people were trying to endure information, the world plunged into chaos. Fearing the end of the stability offered by the Cerebralfa, many demanded its immediate removal. Because they saw Alex and Maya as a representation of resistance and a beacon of hope for a new era, others came along to support them. The reconstruction of society on the principles of openness and humanity began to take hold.

"Do you think they'll be okay without the Cerebralfa?" Alex asked, gazing out at the crowd of supporters.

"They will be, Alex. Humans are stronger than any machine. They just need to believe in themselves." Maya replied with determination in her tone.
