|| Lanai, balcony, or in other words, trust.
You kiss the back of my hand,

your lips just gently grazing the skin.

Enchanted I stand up, aimlessly following you.

You swing the doors open, ushering me in politely

and grabbing the side of my waist,

dipping me over a balcony.

I give you my trust,

the only reason I don't fall is the hand on the smaller of my back.

My life is in your hands,

over such a silly little thing.

And yet, what if you were to slip?

Or accidentally let go?

My body would tip back,

and the behind on my knees would catch over the balcony

only to let go because I've spent my entire life relying on only you

and not my resources.

What then?

When my resources fail me after you let go,

has my trust gone to waste?

Above the town lights I fall farther and farther

until I reach the pavement.

Blood will line the creasing of the sidewalks,

and my clothes will go from stage white to betrayal red.

My eyes will widen,

my chest will rise

and within time,

half lidded and slowly falling are both.

My mouth will hang open to call your name

and yet you are still on the balcony,

looking over.

Looming.

You may have let me down before,

however this trust fall was the last.
