Brandon waits a little too long outside a changeroom. 300 words
Worth The Wait

Brandon London had a nervous tick in his leg. He finally stood up from the bench he was waiting on and began to pace its length.

“This is taking too long,” he said loudly. He got no reply from the changing room.

Time seemed to drag, so Brandon went to one of the salespersons.

“My fiancé Ina Heathwick is in the change area, could you see what’s keeping her?”

“Certainly, sir. How long has she been in there?

“Seems like at least an hour. I must get back to work.”

“Let me see what I can find out.”

Minutes later, the staffer came out.

“There’s no one in there. I saw some gowns out, but no one trying them on.”

“What? She went in there to try on wedding gowns!”

Brandon pulled his gun and rushed into the change room. It was empty of people. On the mirror there was written in lipstick.

“If you want to see her again, dump her and agree to marry me!”

He got on his cell to the precinct and started issuing orders. Running out onto the street, he got into his unmarked car.

“If Tamara’s hurt her, I’ll see her put in jail for life!” he muttered as he sped off.

When he arrived at Tamara’s condo, London could hear screaming from the lobby. Building security joined him in the elevator. He called the police to tell them where he was.

“You can’t have him, he’s mine,” he heard Ina say with a shriek as he broke down the door.

“He was mine long before you lured him away!” Tamara yelled back.

The hands of each woman lunged for the other’s throat.

“Stop them!” Brandon yelled to the guard.

In seconds it was over.

“Well, did you find a dress?”
