Review: DOGS OF WAR (DOGS OF WAR #1)

DOGS OF WAR, first in series, possesses the same quality of excellence I have come to expect from the very prolific and wide-ranging in terms of genre author Adrian Tchaikovsky. I am eagerly anticipating continuing this Series with BEAR HEAD (#2) and BEE SPEAKER (#3), releasing June 3. Not only is there exciting near-future "what if?" science fiction adventure, violence, gore, fatalities right and left, genetic engineering and modification, but also philosophy, metaphysics, discussions of rights (both human and animal) and sentience, slavery (again, both human and animal), corporate greed, power, private mercenaries, extreme narcissism. Mr. Tchaikovsky is never content to simply skim the surface; he is always going to mine all the layers until he reaches the core of the matter and exposes it. In DOGS OF WAR he also demonstrates a love and appreciation for the Animal Kingdoms with whom humanity shares this planet, and not just mammals, but also for example insects.
