Cam gets picked on by a bully. 300 words |
Not Doing Anything Cam Dooley looked up from his position of being sprawled on the ground. “What are you going to do about it?” asked Blackie Koontz with his fists clenched. “Must have slipped, so there’s nothing to do,” Cam said as he got himself up and kept playing. He could feel Blackie’s eyes burning into his back. He cracked a small grin behind his hand. “Why do you let him do that to you? He’s trying to get you mad enough to fight,” one of Cam’s friends said. “He’s a bully, I ignore bullies. Besides, he’ll get his soon enough,” Cam answered. “Why not from you? I know you can take him!” “He’s not worth it. Besides my name’s not Karma.” Cam’s friends snickered. “Do you believe in that stuff?” they asked. “It’s coming. I know it,” he replied as he raced them to the ball field. Blackie continued to bully and harass Cam. He continued to stay pleasant and take it. One day, they were at the park and Blackie showed up. He immediately began picking on Cam. “Why don’t you fight me, chicken legs, too scared?” Blackie said “Not scared enough, I guess.” Cam replied. Blackie began shoving him from behind, harder and harder. His friends tried to help and got punched for their pains. Suddenly, two muscular arms wrapped around Blackie’s shoulders. He was lifted off the ground, kicking and flailing. Cam kept moving and urged his friends to do the same. They followed his lead but kept looking back in awe. “Who's that guy?” “He’s huge!” When they got to the corner store, all Cam’s friends clamored to know about the mystery guy. “That’s my big brother. He plays college football,” Cam finally told them. “What’s his name?” “His teammates call him Karma,” Cam answered. |
