Marco has a special gift for his mama 300 words. |
Nosiness Can Be Deadly “This is none of your business,” Marco said patiently. “Look, I live in this apartment building. You’ve been sitting here for hours. I have a right to keep an eye on who’s lurking in this private parking lot!” said the woman who had introduced herself as Karin. “You’re ruining the surprise, lady!” Marco insisted. “Oh, yeah! What surprise?” It’s my mom’s birthday. She hasn’t seen me in a few years so I’m gonna sneak up and surprise her.” “Hunh! What’s she look like?” The man pulled out his phone, picked a file on the open screen and showed Karin. “This is her.” “She doesn’t look like anyone I’ve seen around her.” “She doesn’t get around very well at her age.” “So, she’s one of those old cranks that blocks the hall with her walker and is so slow getting to the elevator the rest of the tenants like me have to wait for her because we can’t get past her. I know the type. Why don’t you get off your wallet and put her in a nice seniors’ home?” Marco pursed his lips and didn’t respond, although his face grew very red. “If you aren’t gone when I come back, I’m calling the police!” The sky began to darken with an impending storm. The nosy one came back in five minutes. Marco had moved to a shaded part of the lot. Yet she spotted him. She rushed over while dialing the phone. Marco pulled out a silenced weapon and shot her. He got out and threw the body in his trunk then unhurriedly left. As he cruised home, he dialed his mom. “Happy birthday Mama! I got you what you asked me for this year. That Karin is gone, Papa style.” |
