It Figures

As I passed by the window, I realized it was starting to rain! I had clothes out on the line! I bolted out and grabbed them all. I was not about to wash the whole pile again!

Unfortunately, they were not completely dry. Not too wet, but way too damp to fold. So, I started quickly hanging them everywhere I could. It’s amazing how few things you have in a house that you can use as a rescue clothes line… I started with the kitchen chairs of course, but I only had four. Then I opened all my cabinets and hung more there on the doors, and on the closet door too, and the door knobs, then the bathroom door. Half way!

Getting more creative I clipped some to my venetian blinds, which immediately reminded me that the bathroom had that curtain rod across the bathtub! In I went. The tablecloth I had in the wash was a large circle, which I really didn’t want wrinkled, so it got the curtain rod. Then I took the dry towels down and hung a couple more things on each of the towel racks.

Just a few more, I didn’t have any real rope, but I did have string, so I grabbed some string and made a string line across the hallway from door to door for some of the smaller things. Almost done!

The last pieces were socks, four pairs, eight socks, but I was out of hangers! So, I laid all eight on the metal shelf in my oven, and turned it on low. Done!

I was so proud of myself! As I walked by the window, congratulating myself, I noticed the sun shining through. It had apparently stopped raining, and was as clear as a bell out there now. Figures…
