Earl and Betty Sue report an incident to the sheriff 300 words
A Chance Encounter

“Have you two bin drinkin’ tonight?” the sheriff demanded of the couple.

“No sirree, we give it all to them?”

“Who?”

“Them aliens that follered us home,” Earl and Betty Sue said together.

“What country did they say they was from these illegal aliens?” the officer asked, pulling out his pocket notebook.

“We don’t know, we didn’t understand them, and they didn’t understand us,” Betty Sue explained.

“Where are they now?”

"They just disappeared.”

“What kinda veehickle was they drivin,? I’ll need to set up roadblocks and send out a BOLO.”

“It was two huge metal pie plates, upside down on top of each other. It flashed with lights of all colors. You could even see them in a big front window.”

“Kin you describe them?” The couple looked at each other.

“We couldn’t see much, mostly shadows; big heads, huge eyes and no ears to speak of,” Betty Sue said.

“What did they follow you for?”

“Near as we could tell, they were runnin’ outta gas fer their veehicle. We, being the friendly sort, offered some of our moonshine to hep them out. Turns out they was runnin’ a gas guzzler. It took all the shine we had on hand and some borried from the neighbors to tank that thing up!” Earl said with awe in his voice.

“That’s some story you two. Let me know if they come back.”

Sighing, the sheriff put away his notebook and looked up at the full moon, huge and bright in the sky. While he was still watching, he saw a shadow pass over it. It was a huge shape like two pie plates upside down on top of each other. He blinked and it was gone.

“I give up, now I’m seein’ moon men! I need a drink!”
