My new blog: an Old Fogy's POV |
Now I can rant!!! But should it be fair, or should it be honest—that is the question? From day 1, the majestic pen of unwanted consequences has continued the path of the other pandemic, Trumpism. We had been warned, obviously, but selfish punters decided that 'I'm alright Jack' didn't cut it and lo and behold, more low if you ask me, it is back. And just like that, we’re hurled back into the dark ages. Using laws dating back a good two centuries to justify deportations—that’s really below the judicial belt. But hey, he's the emperor now and his new clothes, he hopes, will hide the nakedness of his true self, except the pen is mightier than the suit and the old demons are back rearing their ugly heads once again. So no surprises there, he's kept most of his promises—if only on paper—to appease those who unwittingly backed the monster, while his Musky companion is bent on trimming the trees of bureaucracy by whittling down headcount in the name of efficiency. And all the while Project-2025 is being enacted in its entirety, fully predictable, but brushed off as tinfoil nonsense by those too comfortable to read the fine print—but hey, who's laughing now. And finally it's plunging for apples at the state fair, where Tariffs are making the world's economies seem like ever-emptying water barrels. Kind of makes you wonder when lessons of the past like Reaganomics will be recalled like the airbags on our newer vehicles because of the extreme negative impact it caused. Clever rhetoric, if that’s what we’re calling it, cannot fully describe the unpleasantness of having to live through this mindless ego-trip that does not forbode well for the future. Can things get any worse, you might ask? And the answer is—with his undeniable talent in his own businesses—yes, of course. It is inevitable. I just wish lemmings and voters were the same thing and that they all simply jumped off a cliff, or had done so after the last disaster so that we wouldn't have to see history repeating itself over and over again. 2029 is just around the corner and maybe the Ghost of Christmas Past will come earlier this century, especially the way things are going. Mark out of 10—that would be a good -1 or F- for the more traditional. F- for totally fucked up. And we still haven't reached 100 days— is he going to make it? Nudge, nudge, wink wink. Cheers Just found out, as is the custom of all bullies, he has backed down again on the TARIFFS. When will this nonsense end? |
