What did he say before he died?

The room was dark
The time was late
The old man on his way
To meet his fate

He moved not a muscle
No walking involved
He lay in his bed
With the thoughts in his head

Things left to say he lifted his hand
The nurse listened close
One last demand

The priest was called
His clothes smelling of death
He leaned in close and began to bless

The old man cried out
With his last vestibule of strength
"let me speak" his voice croaked out

The priest sat down
Taken aback by the shout
He nodded once
The sick man began

He spoke slowly
As he ran out of time
The priest face grew darker
As the night wore on

The old man finished
He closed his eyes
The smile on his face
His last goodbye

The priest stood up
Trying to stay steady
Walking out of the room
The nurse came to greet him

" What was it he said?"
Curiosity colored her face
The priest blinked back
And then turned to the sky
" HE'S taken him back"
"The devil is dead".
