Two unicorns flee Earth to sancuary. 300 wores |
Span To Safety A pair of unicorns rode the sky together intent on a quest. As they flew along, they discussed whether they would succeed. “Do you think this is hopeless?” asked Clothilde. “Nothing is unless it proves to be,” Magnus said. The pink and white striped female sighed and rolled her eyes. “We are coming to a bank of clouds!” There was a white-out for the pair. It seemed like they would be lost, if it didn’t clear. Magnus struggled to see and managed to make out Clothilde's florescent pink horn. It seemed to point the way. When their hooves threw sparks of color up from a rainbow bridge, they knew they were headed in the right direction. They burst through the cloud cover to a treed floating island. Many other unicorns were among the slender white birches. “Are we here? Have we evaded the hunters and reached safety?” asked Clothilde anxiously. “We certainly have, my love,” answered Magnus as they landed at the grassy edge of the island. A magnificent golden unicorn came to greet them. With soft nickers and nudges, he reassured the pair. “Welcome to Cloud Sanctuary, I am D’or. You are safe, for we cannot be seen from earth.” “I see you have a special reason for coming, when is the little one due?” “Soon, within a month,” answered Clothilde, sinking to her knees. “You are close, human hunters seem to be able to sniff out a new birth.” “We had trouble finding someone to trust that would give us directions. Angelus was so kind.” “She is the earthly guardian of Cloud Sanctuary. You were lucky,” D’or said kindly. D’or shook his head, and a warm horse blanket appeared on the end of his horn. He and Magnus covered Clothilde and left her to sleep. |
