A Great Day at the Park âWhat is that noise?â âWhat noise? âListenâŚâ Jeff listened, but didnât hear a noise. âI donât hear anything⌠What did it sound like?â âA noiseâŚâ âRight, but a creek, or a rustle? Something knocking against something? Or an animal, something alive?â âHold it, hold it,â said Alex, âIt sounded like a noise! Like something different from what weâre hearing right now.â âNo clue huhâ âA noise, just a noise. Not loud, not too soft, not words, just a noise that I didnât know what made it. Which is why I asked you if you heard it.â âI guess I didnât hear it⌠I was busy looking for money.â âYou were looking for money at the park?â âYeah, people drop money on the sidewalks here by accident sometimes. I thought if we found some, we could get some candy.â âHow often have you found money on the sidewalk?â âWell, I found a penny once. But my friend Danny found five dollars once!â âWell, that was cool, I bet that doesnât happen often. Ooh! Thereâs the noise! Did you hear it that time?â âYeah! It sounded like it was over by that bush!â he pointed to a bush a few feet away. They rushed over. What the found was a bird stuck in the bush. It seemed to have a string wrapped around its leg, and stuck in the bush. The boys carefully started to help. Alex took hold of the bird while Jeff unwrapped the string from its leg, and then they let it go. It flew off quickly. âWe better toss that string too so that doesnât happen again!â Alex said. As they pulled it out, they found a soaking wet twenty-dollar bill that was stuck on the other end! It turned out to be great day at the park! |
