Betrayal from a lover/wife

BETRAYED

With every smile you spoke a lie
With every touch you made me cry
You lit the match and fanned the flame,
But somehow I’m the one you blame.

I gave you trust, you gave me pain,
Now bitterness runs through my veins.
You whispered love,but meant control
And carved your name into my soul.

I screamed for truth, you silenced me
Chained my heart and called it free.
I look into your hollow face,
And lost myself without a trace.

I dream in red, I wake in fear,
Each breath a curse that brings you near
I tried to stand, you pulled me down
A broken is soul is what is found

Now all I am is ash and air,
A ghost that haunts a vacant stare.
And if you ask me what remains—
Just empty skin and phantom pain
