Amusement park rides can stop being amusing

Side by side, we tumbled in the capsule. The people on the ground and the wind through the cage roared with approval. I was giddy and breathless with the g-force of the launch, even though I almost peed my pants. Denny was already crying. He had been scared to get on the ride in teh first place. He thought we'd wind up getting launched clear out of the park. But I didn't really get scared until the crowd suddenly went silent, and the wind was replaced by the blaring of the warning buzzer.
