And as she lies awake I turn to ask, drifting over to her tired eyes.

' ' A few months ago I asked you, it was no. Has anything changed? ' '

She looks at me in hesitating and eventually turns away. I know my answer there, but I need to hear it from her. She's hard to read - not like a book, more of an anthology.

' ' You know - if it's a no, my answer will also be the same. ' ' Hopefully my words filled of encouragement, rather than emptiness.

Without moving she spoke, her voice hoarse.

- ' ' You know what my answer is. ' '

I paused, I smiled, and I nodded.

' ' Then you know mine. ' ' She waited for me to say it, as I waited for hers. I suppose it's only fair.

' ' I will stand in your corner at a distance. I will support and cheer for you - and I will love you until I cannot, morally or physically, but I will never chase you. ' '

She looked over, her arm above her head shifting to move her wrist to support more of the weight, and her other hand resting on her stomach. What was in her eyes, I could not decipher. Some sort of cryptic code with no desire to be revealed - I knew she wouldn't be the one to attempt.

- ' ' My answer will never change. ' '

' ' And neither will mine. ' '
