This is a medium length story about a telepathic duo and their journey.

on the back of giants, a palace rises to the sky
adorned with ornaments from all of time
it glitters in the sun and glows under the moon
showing light cast out its windows in the throes of a caccoon
inside they lay asleep while the spirits do their work
casting spells to save their health while they're all interred
the method of internment's kinda different than from other deaths
a time capsule free of the mind capturing it's hidden depths
in the basement those with lizard breath prey from deep in holes
dragging those down with them when they need another soul
you can hear the echoes of the Earth when you stand above their entrances
the air that moves from deep within almost replaces them with semblances
much alike their own with lots of improvement
and the way the palace moves above them promoting the purpose they pursue
to evolve along the world above them while they honor those below
learning to solve the problems of the world paying homage to their home
leaning on a staff topped with rubies in a goats head
the high priest's long known the available teachings
and he's almost towards the end of the reach of his lessons
so he's thirsting for a purpose and brimming with need
bending down to address a novice, he planted a seed
asking a question meant to address him related to greed
the notion had eluded the novice but he'd noticed it quick
she failed to answer correctly when the topic was picked
after leaning back for a moment he opened his third eye
and came into the mind of his pupil, vibrating politely
leaving her with a purpose and advice, he'd stated quietly

out on a walk with his elder wife on a path near his home
a bird landed on his staff with ruby red eyes and it spoke,
"Your teachings give a novice purpose, which she doesn't deserve.
Be careful of what you offer and the purpose you serve."
Off it flew, into the twilight away from his amazed wife
"I've never heard of a talking bird.. we are crazy right?"
At the same time the pupil dropped a book it was pushing towards a shelf
and her body shook her so hard she went to look up as she fell
and only saw a figure clad in black that was red and shrunken
as if long dead inside a cloak that rats had drug in
just then she heard the rain upon the windows as a storm started
and she felt something clinging to where she was warm hearted
it was turning her cold she felt,
making her into something not quite herself
and she couldn't fathom being cold and alone
so she sought out her teacher not far from his home
walking up to the pair as a bird flew away
she startled them both as she started to say
"Pardon me please, I'm feeling so cold and dreary
and I feel like there are bad spirits near me
as if they're taking away my good spirits to leave me broken
and there's nothing i can do by myself to stop the motion"
He thought for a moment and dropped his staff on the ground
laughed under his breath crouched, and looked at what was around
he noticed spirits in the brush on both sides of the path
they were staring and waiting, glaring and hating
with a motion behind him he bade her follow close by
and they were on their way back to his home in no time
there were only two chairs at the table so he decided to stand
and his wife took her by the hand and read her palms swiftly
telling her of her long life ahead but had an issue with his being
that's when she went into a trance and her eyes turned grey before blue
and they flickered back and forth while a message played like a tune
"Bow before me, you wicked and needy. I am from a planet before this one arrived
and I have a message for all three of you to help you survive."
he spoke of the relationship between both and how demons who thrived subservience
were afraid of the strength she gained and how it made her life worthier
so they formed a circle and joined hands and addressed their oppressors
who were either unable to speak to them or unopen to suggestion
next he questioned her about her intentions and goals
and the position she maintained made him relinquish control
"I see potential in you that I might've missed,
and this pains me, I haven't made too many mistakes lately"
It drove him crazy that she'd surpass him which he realized quite openly
the scope of their realization left him moping with his eyes almost closed
seeking inspiration from spirits on how to properly address her
he realized that he'd had so much inside he'd confess to her
"The written word's a blessing most seldom have found,
and my teaching exposes the heart of the issue,
from the ground to the sky throughout all of time - there's remaining truths
and they speak of all their ancient basis when their explained to you."
So when he tells her what he knows he hopes she takes it to her heart
as if he's shown her parts of himself he couldn't put back or even start to
lending one a hand's much more than showing them a piece of you
it's giving something cherished on to hope it builds a decent you
and he showed this to her with time while his wife paid close attention
the priest's knowledge along with the way he could speak honestly and direct
made her fall deeper in love with him every time he'd interject
the line between them both began to shrink over time
and soon they had a close connection - a link for their minds
and nothing could break it, there was nothing as sacred
in the moment each could finish another's sentence
if there were finer points to be made then were to be by his apprentice
and the remnants of the past left them both behind
when they left the cabin they were in, the vines were overgrown and meaty
and they realized they'd passed time faster doing what felt altogether briefly
his teachings were BEEFY, and her understand was MIGHTY
he crowned her with a crown that was leafy
and they returned to the palace to speak to the chieftain in charge

clouds hung low over the palace ramparts and above the domes in the sky
as if they meant to push them down lower, to sink more than fly
moving past the gates the guard uttered a lingering hiss
that stung the air around them, "OH pardon me miss,"
it felt like even the walls were staring, glaring at their prominence
only it was a shame there was a challenge instead of sharing the dominance
the state of affairs was glaringly obvious once they met the chieftain
he bowed ever so slightly while his guards oversaw the visitor's manners
and they were constantly reminded of his position and standards
but once they got past the beginning, they explained their recent studies
and although he glared the whole time when the finished he said, "Well that IS something."
He asked for an example of their progress so they joined hands left and right
and placed their fingers on their temple so their third eye was excited
emanating waves that moved through the air so thickly they were visible
candles flickered out and the guards were startled, their position was critical
lighting the candles back before the chieftain who seemed upset
he leaned forward and whispered , "That I will not soon forget."
To finish their performance, they joined both hands and an orb appeared between their heads
it rose above the turning colors before it's final form was the head of the priest
it lowered and slowly positioned itself before the chieftain
and vanished along with his beliefs between them
the pupil realized their friendship was more important and it was now her turn
and she had more to learn from him than she ever thought she could learn

she'd come up with new characters and then ask him what their story was
which he'd abide the curiosity just long enough to find that hers had piqued
and he admonished himself for not being more involved with where they'd reach
to give a person life and then tell it how it feels is the balance between lies and doing something real
was she doing something selfish when she asked him to speak to her
would they meet with words at the point she found his meaning curbed
or were there missing hints he dropped within his sharing that could have meaning for her
she even served dinner for the chieftain and his friends to show them that she cared
stopping by to offer help in any way they could use it, bringing awareness to concern
but she didn't need to worry about the high priest or his wife again
it seemed the introduction to the chieftain was a graduation from a friend
she had never seen a head produced to fly before anybody before
and she asked him mentally if the notion could be explored but
he didn't respond, and that wasn't what he usually did
so she went out to his house out in the woods where he usually lived
the spot his house was at was covered in debris and vines
and she rushed to see if he was trapped inside
but she heard a voice deep in her head telling her to leave this place
she wouldn't listen at first and he repeated or you'll be disgraced
"I'm high in the mountains, alive in trees
reclining in a fountain enjoying the breeze
do not fear my death but more living again
because it's a state i only endured as a gift for a friend."
She knew this to the end was like a gift to her
and she took with her all his teaching and words
