The most pain my heart has gone through

I never meant to turn you into this formidable
Beast. To be apart from one another seemed to torture
Us much; our hearts bound together by a fine string.
Maybe that is why our now-torn troubled trust does so sharply sting.

Blind to the past that created your Hell, the one where you remain
And will forever hide inside your shell. It was fate
That I arrived when your heart first stopped beating;
Just in time to knot the string that would otherwise continue bleeding.

But alas my sickly string could not withstand the pressure
You put on me and caused a pain not even I could measure.
To you, I was the beacon who shone through the night,
And you were the insouciant child– Careless and lost in my light.

I let you tear at my willing flesh and chew open my chest
Where in you crawled and begged to rest.
Here you twirled and tugged at the last remaining piece:
The thread that took all my blood but at least gave you peace.

A bloodless corpse was not all that I was meant to be
Even though this is something you still have yet to see.
I love you now more than ever,
Which is why our hearts must now be severed.
