A Daily Word From the Lord |
“We have turned our lives over to God, and managing them---orchestrating circumstances, making self-crafted decisions, forcing opportunities---isn’t our responsibility. Our job is to listen, integrate what we’ve heard into the fabric of our being, and live from the certainty of those words. When we do that, our lives are backed by the power of the same voice that spoke worlds into being.” (Chris Tiegreen—” The One Year Hearing His Voice Devotional, 365 Days of Intimate Conversation with God”) When I read these words, a light bulb went off, and clarity sank in. For the past few months, I’ve been trying to make something happen that wasn’t going to happen. I was trying to force an opportunity where one didn't exist. I also receive enlightenment from daily Bible verses sent to my phone and/or Kindle. When I read these verses, I feel understood...I feel seen. I realize that God knows and sees exactly what I’m going through, and He sends just the right message at just the right time. This has been happening more and more lately. God is right there to turn my upside-down world right side up again. It doesn’t change what’s going on, but it makes what’s going on seem to be in the distance somehow. And if it pops up front and center again, He’s right there with a verse that reminds me that it’s ok. He knows what’s going on. He sees it. And He will be there to help me through it. He knows what I don’t know, and He sees what I don’t see. And sometimes He works through unexpected ways, opening doors that I never would have imagined would open. He’s teaching me to step back and let Him handle things. There’s nothing I need to do. And while this doesn’t always mean things will change the way I want them to, my faith will be strengthened, my trust renewed, and life events will be put into perspective. I’ll be able to look outside myself and reach out to people dealing with the same issues that I have with empathy and patience. Perhaps we learn more from the painful events in our lives. Those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31) Lord, thank you for holding on to me when I’m too weak to hold on to You. Thank you for letting me know through your daily reminders that You are my strength. In Your holy name, I praise and worship You. |
