When to release the next book?

I am here at work, worn-out and simply awaiting home time. I work at a school; for us, the summer holidays are not vacation at all. This is essentially my busiest time, and the deadline is straightforward yet enormous: make sure the school is ready for when the children return.

Maybe it's end-of-the-week fatigue, but for the past few days my mind has been fixated on a major question: what comes next?

For all purposes, Book 2 of A Newman Adventure is finished. One of my amazing ARC readers has completed it; fortunately, there are just a few changes needed. But I just am not sure when I should let it go. The dilemma is here.

This year do I let it go? Should I start mentioning titles and revealing covers? I suppose do I use the same publisher service? Knowing it comes with more expense, do I locate one that provides more? Or do I take the plunge and go it all myself?

Perhaps that's why I'm still not ready to release it. Deep down I desperately wish to get it out there, but I have too many unresolved issues.

Only released in May, an Irish Mystery feels as though I have made every effort to publicise it since then. Reviews are my major problem; this is not only about trying to sell more books. For an indie author, they represent life blood. Over these summer holidays when people are gone and have more time, I'm hoping they may read my book and hopefully leave a review. Presently, I believe that is what is slowing all back.

This has inspired an idea. Any among you on Goodreads?
My Kindle Unlimited exclusivity period is ending soon, and I'm wondering about giving free ebook copies of An Irish Mystery to those prepared to read and write review for it. Let me know here on the site if you're interested.

Thank you for taking the time to read my braindump. It helps to vent everything.
Daniel.
