Solomon where are your sisters? I thought they would be with you, Aunt Melinda as far as I know they were right behind me. Don’t you think you should go and look for them. I will be starting dinner and they need to come in and clean up you know how they like to play in the dirt and they will be very dirty. but aunt Melinda
do not argue with me just go and bring your sisters in the house after your sisters have eaten had a bath and gone to bed then you can go and explore the house. What is uncle jack doing? The truth is maybe I should wait until you are older, I want to know the real reason my sisters and I are here. please do not tell me that I will not understand.
So, after the girls go to bed. aunt Melinda and I will talk about what is really going on and trust me I will know if you are lying to me. Who are you and what did you do with my nephew?
Uncle Jack I am your nephew I just want you to be honest with me. Solomon you are only13 what can you do about what is going on well I can make phone calls to find out where my parents are Do not you think that I have already done that
you know maybe if I can get ahold of someone then just maybe they will listen to what I have to say. Well even if you were able to talk to someone that does not mean they are going to tell you what they know. Hey Uncle Jack do you mind if I look around in your office, all right Solomon here is the key to my office just make sure you lock my office when you leave so what do you think you are going to find? I really do not know yet but I am hoping to find the answer to why my parents left us here, was he hid
That night as I begin searching for clues, I found a locked box it felt heavy like Jack locked this box on purpose was he hiding something from Aunt Melinda or was he hiding something from me. Solomon was looking around for clues when found he found an envelope with his name on it when he clues when found he found an envelope with his name on it when he opened the letter and started reading
Wait Solomon there is something I have to tell you I don’t want you to say anything to Melinda or your sisters about this letter because she will not understand and your sisters are too young so before I began I need you sign the document that says you promise not to say a word to anyone and place the document in the envelope slot in the basket that’s in the bottom drawer and press the send button and I will get it right away. What will happen if tell Melinda about what you have told me? Well to honest maybe she will think you made all up. I know why you think she will
not believe me it is because she already knows the truth. so, what is this big secret jack
why are you still here I need to figure this stuff out on my own without you looking over my shoulder.
So, what did you do Uncle Jack?
We need to go downstairs and have dinner when dinner is over, we will go back upstairs and I will tell you a story about what the letter about is all about and maybe you will begin to understand who your aunt Melinda and I really are.
Are you my aunt and uncle? Something tells me that you are not my uncle and Melinda is not my aunt I will get to the bottom of this mystery. Maybe my mother paid you Melinda to be my family
well, its late so I am going to bed, do not stay up too late all right Jack, I will see you in the morning. After jack let his office that’s when Solomon begins to look for clues other than the letter that Solomon found there was not much in Jacks office so Solomon decided to go ahead and read the letter that he found,
Solomon. Its time for you to know the truth about where your mother and I are
And why you and your sisters are staying with jack and Melinda who to be honest they are not your aunt and uncle but they are close friends of the family and you are to do whatever they say and be sure to remind your sisters they are to also mind and do whatever jack and Melinda say. I know that you want to know where your mother and I are but there are a few things that you need to know before you go looking around in jacks office there is a locked box you will find the key in another box on the top shelf of the bookcase in the living room the code number for the box is 3342 even jack doesn’t know the code because I am not sure who he would give it to being the fact that he is not family but even family can betray you so be careful about what you say to him. And please whatever you do, do not share any of this with Melinda,
your priority is to take care of your sisters I understand that what I am writing is a lot for a 13-year-old boy but I know you are very strong and very smart so just take your time with trying to figure out the clues and one other thing the ghosts in the girl’s bedroom is real they will not harm them just something you should tell them when they go to bed.
I will write you again very soon.
dad when Solomon finished reading the letter he put the letter back into the envelope
walked out of the office and locked the door then went to his bedroom and closed the door.
All I could do was think about was the locked box and what was in it since I couldn’t sleep I went back to get the locked box out of Jacks office I needed to know what was inside the box as I turned the corner I noticed a light under jacks office door soon as I opened the door to jacks office I saw someone sitting on the couch But I didn’t understand how it was even possible as I reached for the light switch on the wall I heard the voice say don’t turn on the light. who are you and what are you doing in jacks office? All you need to know is that I will help you find the truth about who jack and Melinda really are. Solomon, I know you think that you understand but there is so much you do not know. one thing I would suggest that I one thing from you I believe that you should start keeping a journal and write down things that are going on in the house and maybe when you are older you can begin to tell the story of what really happened to your parents. I just want to know how you got into jack’s office. Jack’s office door was locked and I have the only key. how I got in here is not important, but I wanted to tell you that I have already started writing a journal I never asked you what your name was. What my name is, is not Important just keep writing in your journal
That night Solomon grabbed is notebook and pen and began to write down everything that this man who told me things about my aunt and uncle that I am not sure is the truth. I do not know when this strange man will show up again but one thing is for sure I cannot tell anyone so for now all I can do is write down everything I see and hear and just pray Melinda does not find it I just do not know how she will react if she finds out that a strange man has been in her house without her knowing anything about. For now, all I can do is keep this to myself I cannot even talk to jack about it, there is no one I can talk to because there are not even any neighbors to confide in. maybe in the morning kia nova and I will go do some exploring and maybe I can find out who jack and Melinda really are. I need to find somewhere to hide my notebook I think I will put it in the back closet and just pray Melinda does not find or that matter kia or nova Saturday September 6th 1980
