Message and a meal

two girls learn they matter when they go have a meal at a church function.

“Sit down and listen.” Came his powerful words. As the two women looked at him and thinking he meant them, there were others still standing as well. But it was his second sentence that gripped them and made them sit and take notice. “We constantly pray for you.”

Pray… for me? No one has ever done that before. Julia thought as she and her friend Barbra sat and listened to the preacher. As that one sentence stopped her from hearing the rest, the man at the podium continued.
“Jesus is here to be with each and every one of us and no one is overlooked by him, he loves us all.

AS the man continued, the girls really began to feel uncomfortable because they had not exactly lived a great life. In fact, there were a few states they could not enter because they would be arrested. Not that they had done anything really wrong, it was just that the law did not see the events that occurred the same way they did.

Suddenly unaware of the periodical of a church service Julia stood and blurted out “how can Jesus still love me with the things I’ve done? My family no longer loves me.”

A hush fell over the room as the congregation turned from the preacher to the woman who spoke from the audience.

“Because it says in the Bible we all fall short to the glory of God. Not one of us deserves His love and forgiveness, but are if we believe in him. It also says that God loves us so much that he gave his own son to die and take our sins away.”

After a moment she sat back down and listened as she was plunged back into her thoughts.

How did she and her friend get swept away in this message? The only thing they were looking for was a hot meal and a bed for the night, not a sermon saying that Jesus loved them. But no matter how hard they tried to leave they couldn’t. There was just something about hearing that someone cared and loved them that they were drawn to and nothing was able to pull them away.
