It Worked “Pretend I’m not here,” said Gary. Jane looked at him, fortunately he was looking elsewhere and didn’t see the expression on her face. She was not happy. The plan was to clear out the garage so she could get her car in. Gary always had his car in; it was in the only space a car would fit. Gary justified it because he worked from home. Unfortunately, the space for a second car was taken up by all his “equipment”. His car stayed out of the way, but easily available. Jane also had appointments, shopping, plus she had to drive to work five days a week even when it was raining or snowing! The snow being the final straw. They’d had a blizzard, then they had to clear off her car and move it, for the plow guy to clear the driveway. Even Gary understood. But still insisted he needed all his tools. Play things as far as she was concerned. This was going to fall through, unless… “How about putting all the storage stuff that’s in the cellar, up in the attic?” she asked, “and put your workshop in the cellar. We usually have plenty of time to bring stuff down when we need it.” Gary’s eyes lit up! He loved the idea! It took a while, everything got switched, and the cellar became Gary’s workshop. Jane could finally park in the garage! And, it was nice and warm in the basement, so Gary actually started using all his equipment, even in the winter! Jane started going out more too. Not because her car was in the garage, but because her husband and his toys were so noisy in the cellar, it drove her crazy! Still, she really did love parking in the garage, so, it worked! |
