A perspective on religion

In the past I've felt like nothing,
Now I feel like I'm much less.
I've prayed the gods would end it,
Or let me pass this test.

But Heaven never answers,
They've blocked my calls again,
This rejection overwhelms me,
And sorrow is my friend.

But I will not be the monster,
The world wants me to be,
My eyes have long been opened
Perhaps one day they'll see.

I don't believe that we’re all puppets,
Wanna see me dance upon a string?
But the stories aren't just fairy tales,
To help our children sleep.

They began with good intentions,
To teach our children how to love,
To accept all of our differences,
Give praise to God above

But somewhere shit got twisted,
Now words don't mean the same,
You love your neighbors to their face,
But behind them curse their name.

I will not feed this monster
For his hunger knows no end,
To make a man the enemy,
Of his brother and his friend.

Praise the bigots preaching hate.
In their own God's loving name,
Teach the sheep who they're to love
If they believe and look the same.

Befriend the wealthy and the glamorous
Demean the modest and demure,
Stigmatize their suffering,
Condemn the broke for being poor

I will not be the monster,
They dream for me to be,
I just want to smoke my pipe,
Live in peace and harmony
