Will you make it home?

As I walk into the forest,
Down the path laid out for me,
Darkness soon takes over
No more forest, only trees.

We're all just spreading breadcrumbs,
On the pathways through our minds.
As we live our grand adventures,
Our way back home, we hope to find.

But for some it just ain't easy,
To find a shelter from the storm,
Water washes all the bread away,
Leave them stumbling through the thorns.

Sometimes the fault is of the birds,
Singing pretty songs up high,
swooping down to eat the feast,
That we unknowingly provide.

Some people have the resources,
To cut their forest down,
But through their greed and arrogance,
They destroy their entire town.

We're all just spreading breadcrumbs,
On the pathways through our minds.
As we live our grand adventures,
Our way back home, we hope to find.

We must learn to read the landscape,
But beware the warning signs,
Be sure to tread most carefully,
Sometimes snakes hide in the vines.

Through our strength and perseverance,
That we learn along the way,
Never backing down, we stand our ground,
‘Til we return back home someday.
