How an Amish girl handles being in the English world and what happens to her

I am adding a trigger warning due to some of the content may be sensitive to some readers. This story will contain abuse of varies types.

Chelsea LeBarrone was a typical Amish teenage girl but her family life though wasn't normal. She and her family lived in a typical Amish community in New England. She had never gone to public school. Chelsea was also home schooled. she was the second oldest of her siblings, she had always wondered what it would be like to go to public school and be a normal English girl. She had grown up amish and that is all she had ever known. She had just turned 16 yrs old. In the Amish community when young people turned 16 yrs old, they were allowed to go out into the English world to explore it. Chelsea very much wanted to go out into the english world and explore it. She wanted her best friend Rebekah Van Ecker to go with her. Bekah though was a little more shy about all of that. Chelsea finally convinced her to go with her though. Chelsea and Bekah were given permission to go into the English world. As the time got closer for Chelsea and Bekah to leave their Amish community, they were getting more excited. Bekah at first had been hesitant on leaving her family and the Amish community, but the more she thought about it. The more she wanted to see what was beyond the Amish life. Her brother abraham had gone left the community the previous year to explore the english world. Abraham had come back to the Amish community, but he wasn't happy anymore. Chelsea told abraham that she and Bekah were planning on going into the English world. Chelsea and abrahams parents told her that they would only agree to letting her go if abraham would keep an eye on her and bekah. Bekah’s older sister Rachel had also gone into the English world. Rachel like abraham felt more comfortable in the English world now. Bekah's parents had also told her that the only way that they would allow her to experience the English world is if Rachel would keep an eye on her. Chelsea and Bekah both understood why their parents said that. They had heard horrible stories about what English people did to Amish people.
Chelsea and bekah had already gotten permission from the bishop to go into the english world. They had also gotten permission from their parents. Both abraham and Rachel said that they would keep a very close eye on their sisters.
Chelsea couldn't wait to go into the English world because she wanted to experience everything that abraham had experienced.
The four of them soon left their quiet Amish community for New York City. They had settled on living in Manhattan. That was the hard of the city. Abraham told Chelsea that she would have to leave her amish clothes behind, which she did very willingly. Abraham was able to get English clothes for both Chelsea and Bekah. Bekah at first was very nervous about leaving her amish clothes behind because that is all she had ever worn. Rachel was soon able to convince her sister to leave them behind. They settled into a quiet apartment that abraham had acquired before he had come back to the Amish life. Chelsea couldn't get over the way that the apartment had been set up. It was a modern 4 bedroom apartment. Big enough for the 4 of them. Neither bekah nor Chelsea had ever seen lights or a telephone or anything that the English people had. Abraham had become familiar with the telephone and modern other things in the English world. Abraham had even found a job at the local store down the street from where they lived. Chelsea expressed wanting to go to school, abraham said that would be fine, Bekah also said that she wanted to go to school. So abraham and Rachel enrolled Chelsea and Bekah into school. The four of them lived in the apartment happily for a few months. One night though abraham said Chelsea down and asked her a very serious question. He wanted to know when she was planning on going back to the Amish community, that is when she informed him that she wasn't planning on returning anytime soon. Abraham asked chelsea if she didn't return to the Amish community now that she would be shunned from the community and she would not be allowed to come back there. Chelsea knew that and she was fine with it. She told her brother that she felt more comfortable in the English world. She was finally making friends and being a normal English girl. Bekah told her sister the same thing. Rachel also felt the same way that both chelsea and Bekah did. Abraham had decided that he would remain in the English world as well to keep an eye on the girls. He wasn't going to leave them alone in the english world.
Chelsea told her brother that she now understood why he never wanted to return to the Amish community. Chelsea was starting to fit right into the English world. She and bekah were both enrolled in the local high school. They both started to make friends. Abraham had gotten a TV for the apartment so they would be able to watch TV as well. Chelsea asked abraham had were they going to get in touch with their parents that they weren't coming home anytime soon, he told her that he would do it. That he would go back to the community and inform them that none of them were planning on coming back to the community anytime soon. Chelsea knew what abraham was risking for them. Abraham told their girls that he would do it. The four of them would soon be shunned from the Amish community. None of them seem to care about that either. None of them wanted to go back there either. Abraham went back to the Community and informed their parents and also Rachel and bekah’s parents that they were all planning on staying in the English world and that they weren't coming back anytime soon. The bishop got word of that. The bishop than informs abraham that the four of them were no longer welcomed back to the community, abraham said that he understood. The bishop said that they were no longer allowed to communicate with anyone in the Amish community. Abraham said that he understood. He left shortly after that to return to New York City. When abraham got back to their apartment, he felt so much better. He got back into his english clothes.the girls were home as well. Abraham than informed all of them of the conversation that he had with the bishop and their parents. At first both Bekah and Chelsea were upset about not being allowed to communicate with their siblings or their parents, but Abraham soon reminded them that the younger siblings would soon be 16 soon. The four of them were living the American dream now, they had turned on their Amish community. Chelsea started to even date a little, she had started talking to a young guy Cory Van Adams. As Chelsea and Cory had gotten to know each other, she soon found out that Cory had also been Amish and like her, Bekah,Rachel and abraham had left the Amish community years prior. Cory had been in the English world for several years by this point. Chelsea told cory that she never would have even guessed that he had been Amish, he looked more English than Amish. Cory told her that he had been in the English world since he was about very young. Cory explained them all that he and his siblings and their mother had been shunned from the Amish community due to their mother having an affair with an English man. Chelsea was shocked by what Cory was telling her. Abraham and Cory became fast friends. Abraham told cory to take care of his sister. Cory told abraham that he would take very good care of her. Chelsea knew that she had found the one in Cory. Chelsea and Cory were starting to get closer every day as well. Bekah also had found someone as well. He happened to be Cory's best friend Stephen Van Buren. Stephen had also left the amish community when he was young. Stephen's situation was very similar to Cory's actually. Neither Cory or Stephen really looked amish either. They had grown up in the English world for so long that they started to look and act like the English they had grown up around.
Chelsea would soon find out that Cory isn't who he says that he is. She thinks that he is such a great guy, he told her that he wants to take care of her. Chelsea was starting to fall for him, the more that she spent time with him. Chelsea and Bekah would soon find out their boyfriends weren't who they said that they were. Abraham started to get a bad feeling about them as well. He told both Chelsea and Bekah just to be careful.
Chelsea wanted to ask Cory about why his mom had been shunned from their Amish community but she didn't want to make him upset. There were certain things though that didn't add up when it came to Cory. She knew that asking him would probably get him upset but she had to know for her own piece of mind.
Chelsea finally got up the courage to ask Cory about why his mom had gotten shunned from their Amish community. She wasn't really ready for the answer that she was given though. Cory told her that his mom had been shunned from the community due to being in a polyamous relationship with an English man when she had left the community some months prior to them being shunned.Cory told chelsea that being in a poly family was against the Amish ways. Chelsea had no idea had to respond to that either. She had never heard of being in a polyamous family. She had no clue what it involved. She would soon find out what it meant because cory would soon ask her to do that. By this point Cory and Chelsea had been together for close to a year. Chelsea,Becka, abraham and Rachel had been away from their Amish community for close to a year now. Chelsea said that she loved him. Cory told her that he loved her too. Chelsea would soon learn and find out that Cory was just like his mom. Chelsea started to realize that she wasn't the only girl that Cory was dating, she didn't know how to handle that either. Cory had befriended Leah Weaver. Leah though still lived in the Amish community that Cory had grown up in. Leah had come to the city during rumspringa just a few months ago. Chelsea couldn't believe that Cory had stepped out of their relationship, when she confronted him about it, his response though angered her and upset her. Cory told her that he wanted to have more than one girlfriend. He saw how happy his mom was with two husbands. Chelsea pointed out to him that isn't that the reason why she had been shunned from the community. He said yes. Chelsea asked him why would he want to put Leah in the same position of being possibly shunned from the same Amish community that he had grown up in. Cory told Chelsea that Leah knew what would happen if she became involved with him, and she was willing to take that risk. Chelsea couldn't believe what she was hearing though. Cory said that he still wanted to date her but he also wanted to date Leah as well. Chelsea said that she would have to really think about that, she wasn't really comfortable with his dating Leah. Cory said that he wanted all three of them to hang out together. Cory told chelsea that he wanted to prove to her that Leah wasn't a threat to their relationship but someone that could add to it.
*** background information*****
Leah Weaver actually was a Mennonite. So she didn't live in the same Amish community as Cory. Leah had grown up with the modern day English things, such as electricity, being able to drive. Leah was able to wear regular clothes. Leah had left her Amish community because of how strict the rules were, she didn't want to be told how to dress or who to marry. Even though she was a Mennonite, the community still followed some of the Amish rules. She realized that she had enjoyed her time away from the community way too much. She decided that she needed to talk to the bishop before she did anything that she would regret doing. So she sat down and talked to the bishop one day. The bishop told her that if she did decide to leave the community this time that she would not be allowed back, she would be shunned from the community because she wanted to turn her back on the Amish community. Leah tried to explain to the bishop that isn't what she wanted to do, but that she felt more comfortable in the English world. The bishop suggested that she really think about the decision before she made it. Leah told him that she would take a few days to think about it, but the more that she was in the Amish community being told what to do and how to dress etc, she didnt like it at all. She wanted to be able to dress how she wanted to dress. She also didn't want to be told who she was going to marry either. In the Amish community, the young females were basically given to older males in the community. Leah didn't want to be promised to someone that she didn't love. She wanted to marry someone that she loved. So she made the decision one day to leave the Amish community that she had grown up in, she didn't feel any sense of regret either. Leah just wanted to live a normal life.
Leah had gotten a hold of both Cory and Stephen to come pick her up. Cory came to pick her up, he wasn’t allowed anywhere near the community though. So he had pull up away from the community. She was waiting for him though. Cory was surprised that she had decided to leave the community though. Leah explained to Cory exactly she had decided to leave the community. She had recently been promised to someone who was 40 yrs old for marriage. Cory wasn't shocked about that at all. Cory's older sister Sarah had been promised to a older man within the community. Sarah had even gotten away from the community, she had left several months prior to Cory leaving the community.
***** Fast-forward****
Chelsea had decided to befriend Leah. She didn't want to lose Cory, so she figured that she would become friends with Leah. Cory told Chelsea that he loved her and didn't want to lose her. As chelsea started to get to know Leah, she had decided that she was open to the idea of what Cory had suggested. She told cory though that there would be boundaries that he couldn't cross. Cory agreed to that. Cory told Chelsea that he would pretty much agree to anything at this point if it meant keeping her happy. He didn't want to lose either girl. Leah and Chelsea became closer as well. Chelsea told cory flat out that she and leah would only be friends and nothing beyond that. Even though none of them were in the Amish communities, she didn't want to do anything that would make her parents look down on her anymore than they already did. When chelsea was growing up, she did everything that her parents told her to do, because she didn't want them disappointed in her. She had to live up their expectations in everything that she did.
Cory knew all too well the struggles that Chelsea had gone through. Cory was the second oldest as well, so he had a lot of responsibility as well. His upbringing though was different from Chelsea. His father had been shunned years prior to his mother being shunned from the community. His father had left the Amish community for an English woman that he had known for several years. When the bishop had found out about it. He was immediately shunned from the community. He was told to leave the community and not to come back. The bishop had given Cory's mother the option of staying in the community or leaving with her husband. She had decided to stay because she had her children to think about. The bishop than told her that she would have to soon marry someone else because an unmarried Amish woman that has children was looked down upon. Elizabeth was forced by the bishop to leave the Amish community that she had grown up in, and that she was raising her kids in all due to the fact that she was a widowed Amish woman and also she had admitted to having an affair with an English man. Beth knew that she needed to leave and take her kids to the English world because if they stayed in the community things would get a lot worse for all of them. Beth didn't want her kids to pay for the mistake that she had made so many years ago. Beth said that she would rather go to the English world than to stay in a community where she would be forced to marry someone that she didn't love. Beth soon packed up her belongs and her kids and their clothes and left the amish community. She didn't regret it either. She felt a sense of freedom when she left the confides of the community. She was now able to have the things that she had once dreamed of having. She was able to find a job rather quickly because in the amish community, she had been a teacher. So she found a job teaching at the local elementary school, she would now be able to enroll her remaining children in public school, so they could have that experience as well. Beth's youngest daughter Sarah quickly adjusted to being in the english world. She quickly put aside her amish clothing for English clothing. Sarah's twin brother Jacob on the other hand was having a little more difficulty with adjusting to the English world. He wasn't used to going to school. Beth had a total of 6 children. Beth had gotten a hold of Cory once she had left the community. Cory was thrilled to be able to show his mom and his siblings around the city. Beth just wanted to feel safe again. Cory had even introduced Chelsea to his mom and his younger siblings. Beth told cory that his girlfriend was a delight to be around and that she was good with the younger kids. The more that Chelsea spent time with Cory's siblings, the more she missed her siblings but she also knew that she could never go home again. she just wished that she could at least talk to her siblings. She missed her parents but she missed her siblings more. Chelsea knew that she had her older brother abraham but she worried about their younger siblings.
On top of Cody’s mom and siblings being close to him now, he started to have flashbacks at night of his father and the abuse that he put him through. Before his father had been shunned from the community, he had been a well respected man of the community, it’s almost like he had two personalities. Cody had kept what his father had been doing to him a secret, because he felt ashamed. Cody felt if he told any of the elders or even the bishop that there would be an investigation started and that his father would be in trouble. So when his father was shunned from the community,he felt like his silent prayers had been answered. Little did he know that he would soon come face to face with his father in the city where he now lived. When his father had been shunned from the community, he had just left and didn't tell anyone where he was going or anything. Cody thought by moving to New York city someplace where he didn't know anyone and no one knew him. Cody though would soon come face to face with the father that been his abuser for so many years. Cody had kept the abuse a secret because he didn't want his mother to become his father’s next target. Beth knew nothing about the abuse that her son had gone through, it wasn't till recently that he finally sat his mom down and told her everything that had happened. When Cody had explained everything to his mom, she didn't know what to say other than that she was sorry that he had gone through this alone. Cody told her that he felt ashamed because of what his father had done to him. Beth told her son that he had nothing to feel ashamed about and that what his father had done to him was wrong and that he would pay for what he had done. Cody started to have nightmares because of the abuse that he had been put through. He didn't know how he would feel about having to see his father again if they ever came face to face again. He thought that he had put his father in his past, after he had left the Amish community he had been excommunicated, his father had left with nothing but the clothes on his back due to the severity of his crimes.
Beth now feared for her younger children’s lives knowing that her ex husband was in the same city where she and the children lived. Cody told his mother that he would protect her and his siblings from his father. Cody also had told Chelsea and Bekah and Stephen and Rachel what was going on, so they were also on alert. Cody was most worried about Chelsea coming into contact with his father due to the fact that she was young and pretty. His father went for the young, pretty and naive type of girl. Cody opened more to Chelsea than he did to leah. He trusted chelsea more than he trusted Leah. Maybe its because he had been with Chelsea a lot longer, or maybe its because they came from similar upbringings. Cody started to feel differently about leah every since he had seen his father walking around town. He would soon find out that Leah and his father were connected, and that his father had sent Leah to find out information about him. Cody knew that he had break things off with Leah before anyone got hurt. Even his mother had told him that he had to break things off with Leah. Beth didn't trust Leah either, which said a lot. Beth told her son that she loved Chelsea and considered her more of a daughter in law than she did Leah.
Cody knew that he had to have that tough talk with Leah. He wasn't looking forward to it but it had to be done if he wanted to keep his family safe. He also wanted to take the next step with Chelsea. He was planning on proposing to her very soon, and he couldn't do that if Leah was still in the picture.
Leah didn't even try to talk Cody of breaking things off with her, which seemed really odd to him, but yet he didnt question it at all. Cody told Leah that things weren't working out with them and that he only wanted to be with Chelsea. Leah said that was fine. Than leah let it slip that she had been sent by his father to check on him. When cody heard this information, he flipped out and told Leah to get out of his house. Cody informed his mother and chelsea about what Leah had just told him. Beth and Chelsea reacted the same way. Cody now realized that he would have to be extra careful now who he brought around his family.
