Political Poem about recent issues

The World is Sick
By: Lyra Vox

On September 10, a man died.
But so did a child in Gaza,
a mother in Texas,
a school shooter in Colorado,
and thirteen immigrants in custody --
just this year.

One woman dies every seven seconds,
from a pregnancy she didn't choose,
a preventable death,
legislated into existence
by men who call themselves moral.

This world is sick.
The news ignores the blood on their hands --
the deaths they help create.
They call it "freedom" to let lives burn
and sacrifice those who have been here
longer than the laws that kill them.

"Patriots" say,
"If you don't like it, leave."
They've never run from war,
never watched their home turn to ash.
immigrants die, papers or no --
for being "different."

This world is sick.
Minorities are murdered for existing,
their deaths erased,
their memorials painted over.
But the second a rich white man dies,
Suddenly, the world weeps.
Not for the harm he caused,
but for his "opinion."

This world is so sick.
A man wanted to keep his guns,
said it's worth the cost of death,
And then he died by the very thing
he chose to protect.
