Name: Thomas R. Marshall

District Prosecuting Attorney during Lewis' trial.
Became a member of the Democratic Central Committee in 1904.
Became governor of Indiana in 1909.
He was opposed to Capital Punishment (Death Sentence).-Maybe due to Lewis' trail. He didn't want to admit that the jury could've made a mistake. The trial was a large part in his gaining enough regard to run for governor. It was important that he win.
He became the vice president in 1913 and ended in 1921.
He withdrew his objections to Lewis' pardon as soon as his term ended.
