The end of the road has finally come for The Hopper and Detective Towns

As David made his way to the warehouse address, he couldn’t help but feel that something was wrong. The way the chief called was unlike anything he’d normally do and this warehouse was in a pretty rundown part of town. It didn’t make sense plus his final line about finally ending it didn’t quite make sense. Did the chief perhaps have evidence to finally capture The Hopper? David didn’t quite know but continued to drive into the unknown.

As David pulled up to the warehouse, the sun had gone down and the city lights had come on. Outside, there weren’t many lights which added to the strange and tense atmosphere. David exited his police car and inspected the building. The outside seemed very rundown as rust had formed on the steel siding and some windows seemed to be broken up at the top. David double checked to make sure he had the right address before entering the building.

The door creaked open as David quietly let himself in. The entire warehouse was silent and dark as David’s senses rose. Preparing for the worse, David pulled his pistol out and held it, ready to shoot.

“Chief, are you here?” David yelled out. His voice echoed throughout the building as no one responded. David remained low to the ground as he quietly walked around. As he did so, he heard a beeping noise in the distance. David’s first thought was a bomb but he’d soon find he was far from right.

As David rounded a corner, he noticed a light shining on a bed. David couldn’t quite make out what it was until he continued to walk closer. As he did so, he let out a gasp. It wasn’t just a bed, it was a hospital bed. Around the bed were several pieces of equipment that David instantly recognized as the equipment that had been stolen from the hospital. Looking at the bed, he noticed a frail looking man sitting in it. The man looked to be elderly with his entire body being nothing but skin and bones. It seemed the man’s body was hooked up to the equipment around him as the beeping turned out to be his heart rate monitor.

“Jesus Christ,” David said as he studied it all. As he got closer he noticed the man didn’t seem to be awake. His body seemed to be lifeless… similar to how people looked when The Hopper would possess and depossess their bodies. As David stood over the bed, he heard a click and something press against the back of his head.

“Fuck,” was all David could whisper out as he realized he had fallen into a trap.

“We meet again detective,” a voice said from behind David. Thinking about the voice, his eyes went wide as he recognized it, it was the chief’s.

“Chief?”

“Kind of,” the voice laughed as David spun around to confirm it was him. David knew he wasn’t standing face to face with the chief, it was The Hopper.

“So we’re back to this are we? Why didn’t you just shoot me back at the garage?” David asked.

“I could say to make this more interesting but I rather not lie to you. You see, my body is growing old and weak. My ability is connected to that fact and has also grown weaker over the past couple years. As you can see, my original body doesn’t have much time left. I tried all I could to save it but I think it’s time to put my body to rest and establish a new original body. I may lose my abilities doing so but even if I do, I’ve stolen more money than anyone can ever spend in their lifetime.”

“So you’re going to steal the chief’s body and make it your own?” David asked.

“I mean that could be fun but… that would mean I’d still have to deal with you. You see, I need a better body. One with plenty of youth and who has very little ties to all of this. I think I know exactly who that could be,” The Hopper said as he walked away from the bed and into the darkness. As he did so, a light turned on to reveal Tiffany, the nurse from the hospital, tied up to a chair. She wiggled around and tried to speak but couldn’t as duct tape was placed on her mouth. David began to panic a bit as he realized this all was becoming messier by the minute.

“Let her go! She doesn’t deserve any of this,” David said as The Hopper walked over and began to caress Tiffany’s face. Her eyes were massive as she tried her best to pled under the duct tape. The Hopper just smiled as he did so.

“Let her go? I think that can be arranged,” The Hopper said as he bent over and began to undo the restraints. As he did so, he leaned over to his police radio that was attached to his shirt and click it on.

“All units, I’m requesting backup! I have a rogue officer attempting to kill me! Detective David Towns has gone rogue! I repeat, Detective Towns has gone rogue,” The Hopper screamed into the radio as he undid the last restraint holding Tiffany in. David began to panic as The Hopper threw the gun onto Tiffany’s lap. David wanted to pull his gun out and shoot The Hopper but knew it wouldn’t help his case. Instead, David ran away, knowing that police would be on their way. The Hopper just laughed as he depossessed the chiefs body. At the same time, he possessed Tiffany’s body. Right away, The Hopper picked up the gun and pulled the duct tape off his new body’s mouth. He stood up and noticed the police chief lying on the floor, slowly feeling his consciousness returning to his body.

“I think I can make this body work,” The Hopper said in Tiffany’s body as he looked down at the police chief on the floor. “Looks like the end for you my friend,” he said as he pointed the gun at the chief and pulled the trigger. The bullet was fired and instantly killed the chief as his body lay lifeless on the floor. The Hopper observed this and smiled as he walked over to his original body in the hospital bed.

“Well, I guess we’ll see if I keep my ability,” he said as he shot his original body. With both his original body and the police chief dead, The Hopper smiled and walked away.

While this was all going down, David was running as fast as he could to his police car. As he got in, he quickly started the vehicle and took off. As he did so, he heard the radio going crazy. After a couple minutes, it seemed the first officers had arrived at the scene and found the police chief dead.

“All units! Keep an eye out for car #619 and Detective David Town! We have a reported homicide in the warehouse district regarding Chief Brewer!” David wanted to scream as he heard the message come across the radio.

“It’s not true, it was The Hopper,” David said to himself as he continued to drive at full speed through the streets of Chicago. Doing so brought plenty of attention as soon an officer spotted the fleeing police cruiser barreling down the road. The officer took off after David as he continued to speed away. Slowly, as time went on, the police cars chasing David grew one by one. Within 20 minutes, David had roughly 15 police cars chasing after him. It didn’t take much longer before one officer pitted David’s car, spinning the car into a tree. The impact knocked David out for a minute and as he came to, he had several guns and lights pointed at him.

“David Towns, you have the right to remain silent for the murder of Chief Brewer and James Carlton,” a police officer screamed as he pulled David from the car.

It seems The Hopper would get the last laugh. After a couple weeks of investigating, David would be found guilty for the murder of Chief Brewer and James Carlton, the original body of The Hopper. Investigators found evidence that was left by The Hopper that framed David perfectly for the murders. The story investigators were able to string together was that Chief Brewer wanted to take David off of The Hopper case. As he did so, David grew upset and staged a hostage situation with a sick man he found at a hospital. When Chief Brewer went to stop David, David shot and killed both the chief and the sick old man. David pled with prosecutors that The Hopper staged all of this which led to David’s lawyer pleading that David was insane. This trial resulted in David being sent off to an institution where he’d spend the next 5 years at. Following that, it was up to prosecutors and the institution to determine what would happen to David following this. Many believe David will remain in there for decades while others believe he’ll be released or at the very least sent off to a regular prison.

As for The Hopper, he now resides in Tiffany’s body and seemed to have lost his ability to hop into people’s bodies. Believing it was a sign, The Hopper decided to call his career in crime over. With that, The Hopper resigned from Tiffany’s hospital job and moved out west. The hospital at one point attempted to press charges against The Hopper for stealing the medical equipment but couldn’t find the footage as The Hopper deleted it long before. Now, The Hopper lives in Tiffany’s body and uses all of his money he stole over the decades to live.
