The nightmare vomited into Ann’s mind
Choking her with its rush of horror.

Her ragged breath stank of rotting memories
Feasted upon in glutenous rage.

Every night was the same violent cracked mirror,
breaking sleep with its silent death unsure.

Escape into this wandering fractured maze
Twisted her into screaming knots

Fighting her weakening doubt,
Victim of her own surprised awareness.

The monster dream twitched her awakening limbs.
Hot sweat drowned her in embrace.

Daylight scorched her inner vision,
Leaving her an empty wasted vessel of her own past.
