Short work on what a blood test is like for me

The waits begins

The stomach churns

Breaths become shallow

Chest becomes tight

People flow in and out

Names are called

Eyes downcast

Each lost in their own thoughts

My turn comes

I will not faint

The lady is lovely, kind and caring

Understanding, compassionate, non judgemental

Up I go, lie down with dread

Talking talking to distract my thoughts

Arm goes out, strap goes on, tight and firm

Pinprick and the needle is in, talk, talk, talk

Thankfully over, sit up slow

How am I feeling, good to go

Anxiety will linger, results will come

Fingers crossed all is done
