A late-night attempt to explore being genetically a funny guy.

When I ask people to describe me, something that always comes up is how funny I am.
I tell funny stories, I always have something to say to make people feel better, they remember meeting me from how funny I was. Why is that?
I don't know how to be funny. I've had people ask me what my secret is. They want me to tell them, what? A secret formula, a cunning calculation I run through instantaneously every time I open my mouth. I don't know what that is. I'm sure it happens, though.
I know how to be funny the same way I can hear when my cup is almost filled up.
I know how to be funny the same way I know where the bumps on the f and j keys are.
I know how to be funny the same way I know the left shoe is on my right foot when I'm not looking.
I know how to be funny the same ways I know how deep to breath, how soon to swallow, and how long to blink.
Of course there's a way I know that, there's a way that it comes to me, but to explain it isn't as simple and smart as I would love to share. It makes it difficult to believe people.
How is it that I make them laugh so easily? I'm not doing anything. I didn't read a joke, I'm not a comedian. I've been told I could be, but I don't know why.
It just happens. I talk, I move, It's like a mode I go into. I see someone and I can just say things, responses come up and somehow it always works, people always laugh. It doesn't matter if we're friends or enemies, if they've known me for years or we just met, somehow it always works. On everyone! How is that possible?
I asked my family once. They said I got it from my dad, and he does it too. I don't know if it's the same for him, if he tries, or how he knows, but people always laugh when he talks. I don't see it either. I don't see what makes him funny. I don't laugh, but I know he's funny. What makes him so funny?
What makes me funny?
What makes anyone funny?
I try to figure it out. I play games that you only win by being funny and I get it more than I don't. I try and talk to people who never could be more different and they stil laugh. What am I doing? How am I doing it? Shouldn't it be something I know how to do?
When I walk I understand how my muscles move, how the chemicals and nerves work together to contract and abduct my muscles. When I talk, I understand the movement of my vocal chords and the way sound is processed through our ears. When I cook, I understand the heat transfer, the molecular structures being changed indefinitely.
But somehow, I don't know how I'm so funny?
