The Infinity of Truth ________________________________________________ I strutted peacock like in hubris and illusion Radiating knowledge, knowing all there was to know Certain in the truth that I had found Which in my folly, I wanted to show Truth was not simple, truth was not so true Truth was not static, absolute, something to compare Truth was not yours or mine or theirs To argue and impose, defend or declare My microscope told me a cellular truth My vision of a red rose told me more of that truth I looked altogether at the plant, roots and tree Truth was everywhere, staring right at me I drifted on a balloon over the rainforest canopy Truth was clearer floating right in front of me Above truth of wars, the viciousness of undeclared peace Of narrow domestic walls and boundaries Faster than the speed of light with my mind I streaked Felt no heat as I pierced the sun Slingshot to the Oort clouds in the outer milky way I stumbled, I stopped, looked back to the truth at home Saw our planet blue and white, veiled in swirling clouds Saw it framed by a deep black velvet cosmos and saw Saw truth beyond the rational, truth of a living planet Saw a harmonious, intelligent, living universe Despite the truth of conflict and wars Despite the truth of racial strife, truth left unsaid Despite greed hacking rainforests bare Despite the million species that no more share Truth more real than reality itself Truth of fellowship of all life in the creative web Truth of our own uniqueness through which we seek Truth that we must find alone Truth that links six billion hearts together Truth of uncertain minds that our mind must touch Truth of this, truth of that, truth that blows truth apart Truth shimmering beyond ideas, those viewed in part Truth in the knowing and the moment to be known |
