A children's story in rhyme being published in Jellybean January '03 |
Timothy Tiger leapt out of bed Pulled on his trousers And scratched his striped head. Eggs for breakfast today, I think So he cooked them, Ate them and had tea to drink. Off through the jungle full of trees and fresh air He met up with Benny the Great Brown Bear. " Hi there Benny, how's you today ? " " Fine, thanks Timmy, 'cos I'm going away, going away on my holiday " " Have a good time " said Timmy Tiger " Send me a card and some rock for my larder " He walked a bit further and came across A huge white bird called an Albatross. The albatross who looked very sad Told Timmy Tiger he was feeling bad. Just then, Maurice the Monkey came swinging by Clutching at the branches in the trees so high. Said he " Why look so sad Mr Albatross " " I'm not unhappy but I am very cross I'm cross 'cos the winds have blown me off course And I'm here in the jungle and I'm lost " " Don't worry " said Timmy and Maurice Monkey " We'll show you where you should be " So they took him and put him on the right route And off he flew in search of a boat That would take him back to his home. King Lion saw what was going on And when Mr Albatross was gone Came out from behind a tree and said " Has anyone got a slice of bread? " " A slice of bread, whatever for ? " " I've got a thorn stuck in my paw And if I mix the bread with rain The paste it makes, takes away the pain " Timothy Tiger had a good idea And called for Arthur, the roebuck Deer. Now Arthur had a pointed horn and before King knew it Had taken the thorn Right out of the mighty Lion's paw. " You'll not be needing bread anymore " Said Maurice and Timmy and Arthur. Sammy the Snake joined them and hissed " Mind if I slither alongside you lot I feel a bit lonely and a little bit hot " Now Sammy the Snake was an Adder With a very poisonous bite But to all his friends who knew him He was gentle, kind and quiet. Ethel the Elephant came along that way Announcing today was her 5th birthday. " All the animals living around Are invited to a party at the Elephant pound " What an finish to the day All the animals made their way To the Elephant pound. They took cards and presents for the birthday girl And before long were eating their fill Of all the goodies laid around. And they danced with each other 'Til the sun went down. Then they took their leave from the Elephant pound And walked slowly home on familiar ground, Each of them going down a different road Each of them off to their own abode. They are tired now They've come a long day So we'll say goodnight 'Til another day. |
