A HUNDRED YEARS FROM NOW - Time Capsule - I don't expect to be around A hundred years from now, So I've chosen a few things I'd like to share and how They mean so very much to me And I hope that you understand That every item that I chose Was so carefully planned. Into the time capsule I would place my Bible first For life on earth, without it, Could have been really cursed. Its pages are a bit tattered From the many times it was read, Mother recorded names and dates Of the living and the dead. Next I'd gently place the flag That waved in the gentle breeze, It stands for our country's honor; Fly it high again, oh, please... A photograph in an old oak frame Of a grandmother and granddad Would show that we came from folks Who gave the best they had. A family history with the names Of all who came before - Just to show that they were here, And all that they stood for. And finally, I would place In the capsule for all to see A history book that tells the tale Of how our country came to be. There are so many things, That could be placed inside, To show that we lived, we loved And yes, to show we tried. I do not know what the future holds But as you look back over the past I hope these things I've packed Will be held dear, and forever last. |
