I must be getting older but -

WEARING OUT

I must be getting older
But I still have young ideas;
The get up and go has gone
Along with a lot of years.

My bones ache in the morning,
My bones ache in the night
My face is getting wrinkled
And my hair has turned pure white!

Last night it snowed a lot
But I don't need to get out
The plow seems to have forgotten
That I am still here and about.

I bundled up the old body
That used to just dash around
Shoveling the snow and
Making my way into town.

By the time I got dressed
And opened up the door -
I was too tired to shovel
(I'd wait till there was more..)

It seems as I get older
There is so much more to do;
I just don't have the energy,
That, my friends, is true!

Time seems to be passing by
And the work does not get done,
I'd rather curl up with a book
Than greet the morning sun.

It's getting harder to face
Each day with a smile -
I know things will get better
But I might have to wait awhile.

I watched the news and weather
Neither was too good -
If I had played my cards right
I'd have found a man who would

Stick by me in my old age,
And do what must be done -
Of course if he was older too
What would I have really won?

So alone I sit and ponder
For the older that I get
I wonder if it's worth it;
I guess it is - I'll bet!

I really have slowed down
But I may make it yet,
Still the hurrier I go
The behinder I seem to get!

Now I could move to Florida
Or somewhere else that's warm,
But I would really miss the snow
And the fighting of the storm.

Now when my life is over
And all is said and done -
I'm mighty glad to be living
And yes, I think I won!

For when Spring comes again
You will hear me loudly shout
I made it through another winter
And you thought I was wearing out!
