A poem written about a once good friend about what used to be but never will be again
Towards the blinding sun
Framed by the pale glowing light of a winter's afternoon
Sifted through the trees
There wonders the past
No thought on the future
There passes a shadow of years long since
Flown by.
And the air turns colder
I can see the frost
And yet the promise of spring
Still lingers
Growing with each day that passes
Each winter afternoon turning to a springtime night
Brightening to summer days
Back when the memories lived
Sharp in childhood's eye

Now the sun has long since set
Now the stars have begun to shine
Now the past wonders on through the winter's day
No thoughts on the future
All that is left is a shadow fading into light
And a smiling face in a wooden frame
And an empty stage in a large green field
And the echoing voice of a girl once known

         And a shattered friendship bracelet.
