Just for today I will pause to remember
the good times we've had from May to December;
Always a special time comes to mind,
a picnic on a Sunday I find!
The children and I would plan a great day,
when we could be together and have time to play;
The cares of the world were all left behind,
for it was summer and the weather was kind.
Now years have gone by and the children are grown,
but the seeds of the past have bloomed on their own;
In Summer they travel up to the park,
have their own picnic, stay until dark.
As I reminise, I smile at the thought
that they would remember what they were taught;
About having time for each other and say
that nothing else matters, just for today.
