The lover in waiting for long exhorts the beloved to come soon |
MANNA OF LOVE—a ghazal Come, today I so miss you, Come I so want to kiss you. My life is yet incomplete, For me, true, will be bliss you. I have waited far too long, Come to me please, come quick, you. I am living in this hope Pure love, mine, will not ditch, you. Balloon of my love, I hope, Never in life will prick, you. On cloud nine I soar in love, Hope, my wings, will not clip, you. Just like a counterfeit coin, Me, away, may not flip, you. You are like manna to me, Khalish, I want to sip you. * Written in aa, 7-7 format * A ghazal consists of couplets in which the last 1-3 words of both lines of the first couplet and each second line of the subsequent couplets are repeated as refrain [called radeef], while the word immediately preceding the refrain is a rhyming one and is called kaafia.
