Lingering Rain

As the rain pelts the rooftop
My mind drifts away
To times of happiness
When love never went astray

Those times are dead and gone
To a place unknown
But my heart still lingers
As though I still don’t know

I don’t know the heartache
And I don’t know the pain
But I remember the tears
Ones that fall with the pouring rain

A fateful, rainy night
An anniversary of our love's death
