A poem thought up for Comic Relief though I never sent it |
Think Can I ask you to spend One minute of your time? Just close your eyes And open up your mind. Think of the young ones, alone, Working for their bread They are yet too young To cry to be fed Think of the women, alone, Crying for their babes In small scraps of land All unmarked graves Think of the men, longing, Longing for a name To feed their family To wash away the pain You live life in dream, content, But this happens every day In the countries and to your neighbours Not so far away. Think of the famine, the grief, With no reassurance Of a future With independence Think of the debts, deaths, A life of misery Are we deaf, Or just refuse to hear their plea? You live life in a dream, content, But this happens every day In the countries and to your neighbours Not so far away. So spare a thought, this day, Send them hope, to pray Send them light, disperse the gloom, Let them flower - let them bloom. |
