As I walk down this long road,
Memories of times past appear.
Pubescent still but my travels have been arduous.
Images of things as a child line
The moss covered trail as I trod,
The trees tell me stories,
The streaks of sunlight grazing
Certain areas highlight my happier days.
Early encounters with people
A long time forgotten collide and burn in my path.
Up from dependency I arose
To standing on two feet and doing things on my own,
But many more miles are left to uncover.
In sights unseen by any are where I
Have seen my forthcoming.
Drawbacks, sickness, and other ailments
Are obstacles I will have to surpass.
But while these memories are still with
Me, I will continue to reminisce and adhere
To the youth that once belonged to me.
