A Faerie falls in love with a mortal
I saw thee first one summer’s day
while on a willow’s branch I lay,
teasing lazy dragonflies,
was captivated by thine eyes

Eyes that held my hungry stare
yet thee could not see me there
This enchanted, tranquil place,
was but to thee an empty space

Would that I could shower thee
with faerie dust, thine eyes to see
Surrendering to magick charms,
would catch thee in my open arms

But this day upon thine arm
a beauty with undoubted charm,
and resting ‘neath my willow tree
words of promised love from thee

To this love thee pledged thine heart,
whilst mine own was torn apart
For a love that cannot be,
betwixt a mortal and faerie
