I drop a pebble into the lake
and watch its undulations
percolate
under its shimmering skin
until it reaches the end
to touch sacred granules.
Solitary,
perched on the end,
I accept the mist coverlet
moving gracefully
with care over a soggy grave
of opportunities and imaginings.
Unhindered reflections
guide my gaze beyond the horizon
in lingering anticipation,
as every fiber of my being
begs the question
of capitulation and acceptance.
Encumbered by the dolor
which fills my bleeding heart,
free-falling tears heal my wounds
and I begin to succumb
to the tranquility
of the surrounding ambience.
Exposing my soul-
my freedoms and desires-
I breathe a deep sigh of relief,
and grasp the concept
of just how precious
the gift of life really is.
